Essex local business focus – Emily Briggs

I met Emily last year when she came and helped me and Katherine Davison out at a Business Scene event.

Then when my cat Peppa had her second litter, she had one of the kitties and he is called Hobbes. So we are related as well ;-)

When I set up Birds on the Blog I invited her to join us, as part of the theme of Birds was to have experienced bloggers as well as newcomers, by working together we could all help each other. Emily was one of the bloggers that was new to it,  she produces her blogs regular as clockwork about different aspects of design and campaign management :)

I was recently contacted by a marketing company and we started to talk about social media and big brands, from the conversation I resolved to ask the Emily’s (a branding & creative expert) to look at whether social media could be used as a tool for branding and Emily Cagle (PR and communications expert) whether the campaign was effective from a PR point of view.

Well, our Emily B, she doesn’t do anything by halves does she! She signed up to the campaign and so she could experience it herself and blog about it from a branding point of view. Two blogs already this week!

You can vote for her here, and she needs lot’s of votes, so please ask your friends to vote for Emily and let’s see if we can get a local Essex person to win. Share the link on Facebook and Twitter and encourage people to vote Emily please :-)

All that aside, Emily is a designer at heart and you can see some of her work here – Link

As a working mum to be, Emily is going to have to start juggling things again, and I do know things will be easier for her as she works freelance, she can work around the baby. I wonder if that’s the trigger for many women going into self employment -  the flexibility of the hours?

More to think on, but please do vote Emily!

My Follow Friday in a blog – are you in it?

Where do I start???? so many fabulous people on twitter, saying many interesting things!

Ok, start with the practical

@softwaretrainer because she makes things like Word, Excel etc work how it should. If you know a small business  that wants to get more out of Microsoft, then get in touch with Katherine and introduce them.

@NikkiPilkington, @ShaunGisbourne @JaneLHatton wonderful people, sharp witty conversation, very good company as well as going stuff like SEO, Telemarketing and diversity training, that’s just the added bonus :-)

@babssaul for taking me on a roadtrip and @mykitchenstore for being at the end of that road trip :)

@b1an for writing so engagingly and being so funny and bringing joy wherever she goes.

@SuzanStMaur for writing me 6 weeks worth of blogs before she took ‘surgery leave’ she has had serious operation, and I am sending her much love and best wishes, it may mean you wait 6 weeks to see a tweet, but it’s worth it :-)

@nitajoy for her touching acts of kindness and her amazing charity work for Bullying UK

@louisanorth for her never ending enthusiasm and openly optimistic outlook on life

Right, that’s all I can think of right now!

All good fun, interesting people who are fab in real life too.

Go follow some. Now.
