Essex local business focus – Emily Briggs

I met Emily last year when she came and helped me and Katherine Davison out at a Business Scene event.

Then when my cat Peppa had her second litter, she had one of the kitties and he is called Hobbes. So we are related as well ;-)

When I set up Birds on the Blog I invited her to join us, as part of the theme of Birds was to have experienced bloggers as well as newcomers, by working together we could all help each other. Emily was one of the bloggers that was new to it,  she produces her blogs regular as clockwork about different aspects of design and campaign management :)

I was recently contacted by a marketing company and we started to talk about social media and big brands, from the conversation I resolved to ask the Emily’s (a branding & creative expert) to look at whether social media could be used as a tool for branding and Emily Cagle (PR and communications expert) whether the campaign was effective from a PR point of view.

Well, our Emily B, she doesn’t do anything by halves does she! She signed up to the campaign and so she could experience it herself and blog about it from a branding point of view. Two blogs already this week!

You can vote for her here, and she needs lot’s of votes, so please ask your friends to vote for Emily and let’s see if we can get a local Essex person to win. Share the link on Facebook and Twitter and encourage people to vote Emily please :-)

All that aside, Emily is a designer at heart and you can see some of her work here – Link

As a working mum to be, Emily is going to have to start juggling things again, and I do know things will be easier for her as she works freelance, she can work around the baby. I wonder if that’s the trigger for many women going into self employment -  the flexibility of the hours?

More to think on, but please do vote Emily!

Have you met @jonstow ?

I have been fortunate enough to meet him on a few occasions and he is a warm and gentlemanly person :-)

He also has a fab blog, which quite frankly should have more fans and more readers – you see Jon talks a lot of common sense and shares business thoughts and talks about local business. So if you are in Essex, you must promise me two things…

  1. You will go and take a look at Jon’s blog http://onourbikes.com/ and leave a comment. Get the blogs delivered to your email and read them – you will learn something, so it’s worth it.
  2. You will try and meet him at one of the many networking events he supports in Essex, again it will be worth it

Essex is full of hidden gems like Jon, so over the next few months I plan on mentioning at least one of them every week :-)
